Leif Alexander Weightman
Passed away June 10, 2008, in Orinda, Calif. Born on Oct. 10, 1966, in
Sacramento, Calif., Leif attended Sacramento City schools, graduating from
Encina High School in 1984. Being gifted in graphic arts, Leif "interned"
with local graphic designers before finishing high school, working in
several busy shops. In Sacramento he worked for Hal Hammond Graphics, Brian
Thomas Design, and the design department of Sacramento Regional Transit. In
1991, Leif relocated to Peterborough, N.H., where he formed The Weightman
Group serving as art director. Leif married his soul mate Tracy Poulin in
1997. Together they restored an historic house in Fitzwilliam, N.H. Leif
worked for seven years with the great designer Gaylord Bennett at PC
Connections, Inc. rising to senior graphic designer. A divorce occurred.
Leif went into consulting for IRobot, UPromise and other small businesses
and individuals. Moving to Newport RI to be close to his son, Leif became
active in Boy Scouts of America and Landmark Education, and was a well-loved
member of the community. He tried "to live a life of contribution to others
in a way that leaves them inspired to love one another." In December 2007
Leif returned to Sacramento intending to fulfill two life-long dreams: a
college degree and a pilot license. His intentions were cut short due to the
effects of ADD and a profound depression.
Leif is survived by son Spencer Gradley Weightman, Newport, R.I.; mother
Sara Hallin-Lundstrom (John), Eureka, Calif.; father Ivan Weightman
(Christine), Boise, Idaho; brother Jon Weightman (Lora), Red Bluff Calif.;
sisters Lisa Weightman, San Francisco Calif., Katherine and Margaret
Weightman Sonora, Calif.; and Uncle Jack Hallin (Marian), Monterey Park,
Calif.; nieces, a nephew and many cousins. Leif is the grandson of
recently-deceased Vern and Charlotte Hallin.
A memorial service was held on June 13 at Walnut Creek, Calif., John Muir
Hospital Chapel was led by Fa. Andrew Jacobs of St. Susanna Mission in
Sonora, Calif., and Fa. Ian MacKinnon of Elevation of the Holy Cross
Orthodox Church, Sacramento. The family thanks everyone for their
condolences. Because Leif wished to be an organ donor, six recipients now
live improved lives.
Donations in Leif's memory may be made to California Transplant Donor
Network, 1000 Broadway Ave., Suite 600, Oakland CA 94607.

Without warning, my time clock has
alerted me to something that should have been obvious for at least the past
two years: twenty amazing years have elapsed since our class made the
monumental leap into adulthood. Naturally, however, I had to see if a
website existed for our class. Well, here it is and there you are as the
reunion contact. I pondered the possibility of any urges to attend and
relate to my past, and, pro-and cons aside, I realized my past is my
past. I was terribly unhappy (troubles with family/parent divorce) and
possessed not the tools to ameliorate my erratic moods. I, like every other
teenager desired some level of acceptance by my peers but had not the
patience nor the hope to garner or maintain it. So I suppose this note to
you may be just a stream of consciousness, a way of saying to myself and any
others I may have put-off , "sorry" and that I am thankful to have emerged
from the chaos in my twenties.
My life has been so incredible since having
children (my daughter is nearly thirteen and an advanced drummer--music
flows through the Linzey veins--, and my sweetheart-of-son, Aydin, is a mere
two-and-half) and meeting my magnanimous and incredibly progressive wife,
Kathryn. I teach elementary school--I know, it's almost two Ripley's to
believe. I am also a professional musician (lead singer/guitarist),
songwriter and producer. I am just starting to get into copywriting and
composing for radio advertisements. Who knows what wonderful things will
befall me next!!!!
Anyhow, attending the twenty year reunion
is not in the cards as I really do not want to open up a closed, ugly (for
me) TOME ('book' simply does not depict the gravity of that time in my
life). I wish all of you the best in life and a great, memorable reunion,
T. Shawn Linzey

she can be extremely competitive, headstrong and just a plain poor sport if
she looses or doesn't do as well as she hoped(hmmmmm, where did she get that

teaching me how to communicate more effectively (who knew this stuff would
be so important in the ninth grade?). Mr. Derderian for his commen sense
approach to consumer economics and government which I still use today.
Lastly but most importantly, Ms. Darlene Meiselman in the attendance office

most? Love and companionship from others. Therefore, if that is true,
then we have concluded that others' purpose would
be to love and accompany us during our greatest
need. It follows that our purpose in life should be the
same. I.e., once we are able to conceive of ourselves as having only
our mental faculties and awareness, we then
perceive our greatest emotional need.

My dream of being a singer never panned out--but I have no one to blame but
myself. I had many fascinating opportunities that I watched pass me by.
I have two beautiful children--both girls. Although I'm not sure how it
happened, I work for a health insurance company as a field rep, which means
that I value my "down time" so that I can spend more time with the girls.
My greatest accomplishment (excepting my children) is that I am a published
author. My first book has garnered some film interest. There are several
more novels in the works, but I find that I have little time to put the
necessary attention on them. Thus, they are warming themselves on the back
burner until something changes in my schedule.
Lastly, I have recently had the opportunity to work on a documentary set in
Plumas County. I have had the wonderful opportunity to spend some time in
Quincy again, and I realize now how much I miss it.
I would love to get back in touch with folks that remember their grade
school years. I have missed everyone so much and would like to get back in
touch. It is my sincere hope that you have all found your dreams, or that
you've at least discovered the path that will take you where you want to be.

Occupation: Plumber, Martial Arts Instructor
Bio: As I never graduated High School, I will have to go all the way back to
1981. Over that summer break, I was approached by a neighbor who neede a
helper for a couple of days. He was a self-employed plumber, and those
couple of days lasted for almost 2 years. After he closed his shop, it was
too late to continue school and graduate with my class, so I joined the
Navy. While that was an interesting and educational experience, the military
life was not for me. When my enlistment was over, I returned home to
Sacramento, returned to my prior occupation as a plumber, and married in 1987
(hindsight reveals that at 21, I was still not mature enough to understand
all the factors involved in this choice). My first daughter was born in
January of 1988, and my second daughter in October of 1989.Shortly after the
birth of our second child, we relocated to Reno, Nevada. I enjoyed our stay
there, but I soon had the rug pulled out from under me. Not long after our

Trivia: I don't know what might interest you, however I have had many
trivial events throughout my life
Friends: I had many friends, however I was somewhat of an undesirable in
school, and I do not wish to humiliate anyone by linking them to me. I am
not in contact with anyone from my youth, and most would be shocked by how
much my attitude and outlook has changed since school.
Hobbies: I now teach Martial Arts, specializing in ADHD and other types of
behaviorially challenged children. (yes, those of you who remember me, the
biggest problem in school now makes a hobby of working with problem
children. I guess it's my way of repenting, and paying for all the grief I
caused my parents, teachers and classmates.) I also spend quite a bit of
time volunteering at my daughters schools, I am an active member of the Las
Vegas Astronomical Society, active in the church I attend, and have just
assisted in forming a student based Astronomy club at the local college.
(yes, space still fascinates me)
Kids: I could go on forever here. I have 2 beautifull daughters, one in
middle school, one in High School.. (man, I'm getting old) They are both
active in the youth organization at church, my oldest is also an instructor
at the Karate studio I work at, (her sister is just learning to teach),
among various activities at school. Ashton is well on her way to mastering
the violin, Tristan , the piano..(ya, the burned out metal head finally grew
up, and has now learned to appreciate the fine arts, and insists on
classical training for his kids) They are both cheerleaders, and active in
student government.(another thing that still amazes me.... I raised a couple
of "preppy's")
