Subject:Encina Update (hotmail problem/reunions/bios/newspapers/store/march madness/alumni search/what's new) Date:Thu, 18 Mar 1999 16:53:19 -0800 ENCINA ALUMNI, HOTMAIL PROBLEM I'm unable to send email, including the Encina Update, to hotmail email addresses. I'm trying to figure out why but as far as I can tell hotmail is rejecting any mail I send from work. I can send mail to hotmail from my Yahoo email. It's as if I'm on the hotmail spam list and they are blocking my mail intentionally. Until I figure out why this is happening, those on the email distribution list with hotmail addresses will not receive any email from me. I welcome any suggestions. Alternatively, if you know one of these people, please forward this Update to them. REUNIONS The classes which plan to have reunions this year are: 1964 1969 Alan Dankman (adankman@worldnet.att.net) 1974 Bob Grebitus (grebido@aol.com) Nancy Ziliotto (NANZILI@prodigy.net) 1979 Laura Graff Allred (pacwest@foothill.net) Great Reunions: info@greatreunions.com 1984 1989 Janice Barnes (jabarnes@dttus.com) 1994 Candy Mleczko (candym229@hotmail.com) If you have a sibling or friend without email from one of these years, please let them know about their class reunion! Please contact me if you know anyone on the reunion committee for the classes of 64 and 84. BIOS In order to encourage alumni to submit a bio for themselves, in addition to publishing a bio on the appropriate class homepage, I am going to email each bio which is submitted to members of that class. That is, if an alumni from the class of 73 submits a bio, I will add it to the 73 homepage and email it to the class of 73. That way people will not have to check the website in order to see new bios which are submitted. I hope this will inspire more of you to send in your bios. If you do not want your bio emailed to your classmates, please check the appropriate box on the bio form. NEWSPAPERS As far as I know, Encina did not archive back issues of the school newspaper, which was known as the Tomahawk in my day. This means the only back issues are those saved by alumni pack rats like Craig Moseley, who has many of the papers from 1970 to mid-72. I would be interested in hearing from other alumni who have saved back issues of the Encina newspaper. I'll keep track of who has which issues and perhaps someday we can scan them in and put them online for their historical value. STORE I've added Camera World to the Encina store. They have accepted the Encina website into their Affiliate Program and will pay a 2% commission on sales linked to the Encina website. Camera World is one of the best stores to buy cameras, video and consumer electronics equipment. I've bought several camcorders, cameras and VCRS from them in the past few years. They are an authorized dealer for most popular brands. I've added a link to Mr. Stock, an online broker started by Bill Grebitus 72. Mr. Stock will pay the Encina website $.60 for every click through. Bill says Mr. Stock is rated number 12 out of 100+ by the firm that rates discount online brokers (www.gomez.com). I encourage all of your to click through to Mr. Stock from the Encina Store and check it out. Commissions on market orders placed on the internet are $14.95. Commissions on limit orders are $19.95. MARCH MADNESS I don't want to talk about it. ALUMNI SEARCH Short update this week so I'll publish the entire list for those new to the Encina Update.
