Think that was about late Sept or early Oct. 1958. Can't remember what the other choices  were but maybe, just maybe there's a mention in the 1958 yearbook." HOMECOMING PARTY VIDEO I received the video Stephanie Woo sent me of the Homecoming game and homecoming dance. I enjoyed the short interview in which Rett Smart 73, Elliott Mandell 72/73, Larry Fahn 72, Lorna Cline 72/73, Kelly Horine 88 each said a few words. A friend at work is going to make a clip of the interview so I can add it to the website.   SUSAN McGUIRE   Patricia Lovas '68 writes: "Just a note to let you know that Susan McGuire (former Encina English teacher) now teaches Culinary Tech at Woodcreek High School in Roseville.  She is responsible for getting Woodcreek into the record books by assembling the world's longest shish-kebob.  She also runs the Timber Rock Cafe which is a student operated restaurant at the high school (and, I might add, a great place for lunch).  She is one of the most active and one of the most popular teachers at Woodcreek." FULL CIRCLE I heard from Tom Larson '64, who mentioned in his bio that his sons Bryan Larson '89 and Shawn Larson '91 also attended Encina. I think I remember one other case of an alumni whose kids also attended Encina but I can't remember who it was. If your kids or parents attended Encina, please drop me a line. REUNION MEMORY BOOKS If you have a reunion memory book from your last class reunion, I would be interested in borrowing it. I would like to scan in the pages and publish them on the appropriate class homepage. I will then return it to you. I've done this for the class of 1973 for our 15 and 20 year reunions: http://www.encinahighschool.com/class73/index.html BULLDOG BARKS Heddy Crowder added me to the mailing list for the "Bulldog Barks", the Encina monthly newsletter. In principal Tom Gemma's opening letter, I was surprised to see that enrollment at Encina is only 960 students, versus the 1800 or so back when I graduated. I would be interested in hearing when the enrollment took a precipitous drop and what was the reason for it. The Calendar is printed in English, Spanish and Russian.   ETHNIC BREAKDOWN   I asked Heddy what the ethnic breakdown is at Encina this year: "The ethnicity breakdown is 21.98% Hispanic, 45.26% White ( this includes Eastern Europeans) and 21.21% Black.  The next largest group is 2.93% Asian and we have the same % of American Indian.  As you can see, the American born White  ( after you pull out the Eastern European) is about 23%.  As you can see,  we are truly a culturally diverse school.  Much more so then in the 60s,70s or 80s." AMAZON.COM I received a weekly activity report for the Encina website and I'd like to thank the alumni who supported the website and purchased three books from amazon.com, resulting in a commission of $2.76.   amazon.com recently expanded their offering to include music, videos and cool gifts. If you're stumped for Christmas gifts this year check it out. But be sure to access amazon.com through the Encina store!   MISSING   We found Frances Oates 74, thanks to Charlene DeVere 73 who wrote that she is Chris Oates' sister. We have a lead on Greg Roeszler 74. Charlene's husband John Greenly 72 saw him in Sacramento and says he works for the state. No listing in the phone book though.   One new addition to the list. Anyone know what happened to Cornelia Whitaker, who was vice principal back in 1972.   Julie Baxter 83 Robert Watson 79 Mark Posehn 79 Mike Lamb 74 Laurie Lindseth 74 Greg Roeszler 74 Sara Schuler 74 Julie Stewart 74 Karen Miller 77 Greta Miller 73 Tim Vince 84 Kim Thostad 91? I've added the names from the class of 67 mailing list to  the 67 class directory with the notation "contact webmaster".  There are too many names to list individually in the What's New  so if you're interesting in contacting someone check the directory and drop me a line.   WHAT'S NEW   11/18/98: Class of 1967 directory: added all the alumni on the mailing list (too many to list individually).   11/17/98: Added Photos page with links to various photo collections on the Encina website.
