Date: Wednesday, October 21, 1998 12:33 PM Subject: Encina (homecoming/forwarding/yearbooks/new alumni/larry fahn/looking for someone) Encina alumni, FIRST ANNUAL HOMECOMING PARTY Earlier today I forwarded an announcement from Rett Smart 73 about the first annual Encina homecoming party. Rett Smart organized the Friday night Grads Only party for the Class of 73's 25th reunion back in August and made it a big success. Now's he's back in action with an even more ambitious idea! The "no host" Tailgate Party and Post Party will be held at Fred Borowski 73's "Palomino Room". Thanks for providing the venue Fred! This is a great opportunity to see your old classmates and meet other Encina alumni. I hope you (especially you local folks still in the area) will support Rett and the homecoming party so that there will be a second homecoming party next year! Check out the class directories, contact your old buds and arrange to meet them Friday, October 30th at the homecoming party. Spread the word among your classmates who are not on line. What a great excuse to get together! If you are interested contact Rett Smart at: Rett@lovelandsmart.com or 510-444-5219 I would appreciate it if you would also copy me so that I can keep an attendance list on the Encina website. I'll be adding something to the website tonight about the homecoming party. FORWARDING POLICY Thank you to all of you who sent me nice notes after the political email fiasco last week. I appreciate your support and I've learned my lesson. No politics or religion... YEARBOOKS Thanks to Randi Muller 62 and John Nelson 65. Randi sent me the 1960 yearbook cover and John sent me the 62 to 65 covers. I'll missing 61 and 66 from the 60s if anyone else can help. Heddy Crowder has asked Stuart Freedman, the Encina media person, to scan in the rest of the covers I'm missing and he's agreed to help. NEW ALUMNI For those of you new to the Encina alumni mailing list and website, a few words of advice. The "What's New" page is the best place to check for recent changes to the Encina website: http://www.encinahighschool.com/what's.htm The "What's New" page lists alumni who have been added to the class directories or who have submitted bios. It's much easier to read the summary than to page through the directories. I've attached an excerpt from the "What's New" page to the end of this message. If you are looking for someone, try the search form at the bottom of each page. The search form will search all the pages of the Encina website and tell you which pages contain the specified "string". LARRY FAHN Larry Fahn (LFahn@aol.com) would like to hear from anyone interested in discussing the memo I forwarded from him. I did not feel comfortable forwarding anyone's comments directly to Larry since they were sent to me. Larry says: "I would very much like to see the responses you received to my memo. I believe political discourse is generally good for people, since there's so much reliance on 30-second soundbites. I love a good discussion (argument) and wouldn't mind an opportunity to exchange ideas with those on the 'other side'". LOOKING FOR SOMEONE I frequently get requests for contact information for alumni not in the Encina database. If you already checked the class directories and are still looking for someone, please send me the names and class years of the alumni you are looking for. Periodically I'll send out a broadcast email with the names and see if anyone on the Encina mailing list can help. Here's the first batch: Janice Barnes 89 (class of 89 reunion contact) Julie Baxter 83 If you know how to contact these people please let me know. That's all for now. Harlan Encina webmaster P.S.
