ENCINA ALUMNI,

This is a special update with a list of the current rsvps appended to
the end. You may receive this twice as I've copied the class mailing lists
to reach those alumni who do not receive the Encina Update.

If you have rsvped, please check that your name is on the list. Otherwise,
I goofed up and you won't have a nametag when you check in.


FOOTBALL

As a further incentive to attend the homecoming game, you'll be glad to know
that Encina has another great football team this year. Last year they were
one game away from the championship. This year Encina is 3-0-1 going
into next week's homecoming game:
9/8/01 : Encina 54, Mira Loma 20
9/15/01: Encina 22, Oroville 22
9/22/01: Encina 47, St Patrick's 40
9/29/01: Encina 42, Highlands 18

Encina 42, Highlands 18 at Highlands Bowl -- Demetrus Walker led the
Bulldogs (2-0-1) with 103 yards in 17 carries and scored three times, and
teammate James Williams had 76 yards in 15 carries. Robert Farrell led
Encina's defense, which held Highlands (1-3) to 91 yards rushing and 23
passing.

And homecoming opponent Lindhurst HS is winless this season, which means
we have an excellent change of watching UNDEFEATED Encina triumph
in Friday's homecoming game!

We have active participation from the 70s and 80s but not much from
the 60s and 90s. Not sure why that is the case.

I'm sorry to inform you that teacher Christine Kojima will not be able to
attend
the homecoming party and ride on the alumni float. Her father died recently
(his funeral is this weekend) and she expresses her regrets, as she was
really
looking forward to seeing her former students and colleagues at the party.
